How to back up? Which one is right for me? • Is there ANY way to get decent backups with a F2-210?

I've had a F2-210 for about a year, and for every thing that it manages to do right, it still finds new and imaginative ways to disappoint me.

Firstly, I'd set up backups of my media (movies, photos and music) to a OneDrive. This worked occasionally, then stopped. It no longer syncs, nor can I set up any other sync operations as the OneDrive application won't show me the folders on my cloud drive. A reboot probably wakes it back up, but that defeats the point of having a NAS available 24/7.

So, cloud backups are flaky (and are known to be - I see people on the forum have been reporting issues for years and the latest response seems to be "It's an rsync issue"). And don't get me started on the moments when the File Manager decides to rename folders because it doesn't like apostrophes, meaning that when cloud syncing is actually working, it finds GB's of "new" directories to back up.

Not to worry. That data doesn't change much. Instead, this weekend I wanted to look up how to backup the individual user home directories. I have a spare USB HDD so wanted to set up backups to that. Yet again, the good old F2-210 finds a way to thwart that. USB Backup only backs up from the public folders, not individual home directories.

So is there any way I can reliably back up all the data on my NAS, without having to jump through hoops? It really shouldn't be this difficult.
