System Configuration • Organizing the NAS

I'm new to NAS systems. I set up a power user and then a regular user that has less privileges. There is by default a folder with the name of the new user account called "TNAS". I copied files under TNAS, but it won't let me map to that drive from my PC. I can map the power user, but not TNAS. It looks like I need to create a new shared folder that goes into the root directory. Should i do it that way? Can someone just give me a recommendation for a basic way to organize the NAS folders? Note - it's just for backing up photos at home, so i need one folder that gets shared on my home network. Thanks.
