Hello! Thank you for your understanding and patience. Currently, during the Spring Festival, our response times may be delayed, and we appreciate your understanding.
Due to the holiday, we have adjusted our customer service working hours. If you were unable to reach us online, it may be because no customer service representatives were on duty at that time. We recommend contacting us through the online chat service on the TerraMaster website between 8:30 AM and 10:00 PM (GMT+8). Our on-duty team will do their best to assist you.
Tried just now at 9 AM GMT+8 and the chat still doesn't work. It's using javascript to open the chat, but nothing happens. So to be clear, I'm not saying that people aren't responding -- I'm saying your chat literally ahsn't been working all this time since I last commented. The live chat box DOES NOT OPEN.

This other user had the same issue in August 2024: viewtopic.php?t=6515

I tried following this guide, but the system doesn't operate like his.. so I went my own way, using his guidance as a baseline.

I found there was a "ups.conf" in "/etc" (no /nut subdirectory in this case) and I modified the file with vi by replacing the last block with the same block he provided, which indicates the driver, port, and product id.

The commands he was issueing for /lib/nut don't work at all for me. For example:

Code:

# /lib/nut/usbhid-ups -DD -a ups -x productid=3024-bash: /lib/nut/usbhid-ups: No such file or directory
I decided to just go into TOS and mess with the power settings now that I've modified ups.conf, and I went in and clicked "Enable UPS Support" once again... then I just hit apply and it hung like always. But while it was hanging, it gave me a notification saying a UPS is connected. After it finished hanging, this time it is recognizing the UPS and has the "UPS type" as "USB UPS".

So I probably didn't need to refund my old UPS. I could have went in here and modified this file and I bet it would have worked.

The issue is that Terrmaster for some reason has a configuration/detection issue. The "compatible" UPSs are not actually compatible. You have to go in and modify files to make them compatible. I'm sure there are some cases where some UPSs won't work even after doing this, but I'm strictly speaking in terms of what a compatibility list and OS are supposed to (and expected to) do.

I noticed it indicates "Estimated use time remaining", but doesn't specify the units. Seriously?

I hope things like this are resolved in TOS 6 -- because if this is the FIFTH full-on release of TOS and you haven't managed to put the unit of measurement for the UPS battery time remaining into the OS that is pretty disappointing. That's a very basic and logical thing to include in such an informational area.

Back to the main topic:

I set the shutdown time to 1 minute to test and disconnected the UPS from the wall. The NAS became inaccesible after roughly a minute.

I plugged it back in, and I was able to access it again. I didn't have it off very long (about 1.5-2 minutes, including waiting for it to power down?) and it used 10% of the 550 VA unit. It wans't my ntention to leave it on a long time, but I also figured it would be very low power consumption and this would be plenty. The way the "time remaining" dropped would lead me to believe it's referring to SECONDS.

Also, when getting back in to TOS I was presented with this message:
TNAS was shut down abnormally! Abnormal shutdown can result in data loss, file system errors, or array corruption. Please check your data and array for anomalies and back up your data in a timely manner.
It is technically abnormal to lose power, but this warning makes it seem like the unit failed to "stop all services and unload all storage spaces to protect data, and then enter the safe mode".
